Canadian Nautical Research Society Conference

The Canadian Nautical Research Society held its 2016 annual conference In New Westminster at Douglas College August 18 – 20.

At the conference, Barry Gough, BCHF Honourary President, was awarded the 2015 Mountbatten Award for his book Pax Britannica: ruling the waves and keeping the peace before Armageddon (Palgrave Macmillan).  Barry is the only non-UK citizen to recieve this award.
At a special general meeting in Aug 2016, the Canadian Nautical Research Society made Barry Gough an Honourary member of the CNRS.  This recognition was made in appreciation for his contributions to the CNRS and to the discipline of naval history.

The Canadian Nautical Research Society (CNRS) is national society dedicated to the promotion and dissemination of nautical research in Canada. The CNRS will be establishing regional groups that give members who are unable to attend the annual conferences to meet and discuss issues of common interest.   Anyone interested in participating in such a BC based regional group should contact Chris Madsen (cmv.madsen@yahoo.com).
