Parker, David (1945—2018)

May 24, 1945 – September 28, 2018

It is with sorrow that the family of Dave Parker announce his passing on September 28, 2018. Dave was born in Victoria and attended schools in Vic West and Esquimalt, graduating from Esquimalt High in 1963. He graduated from the University of Victoria in 1969 with a degree in history, and for 25 years was a curator of History in the Modern History Division of the Royal B.C Museum. Following this, he was archivist for the Township of Esquimalt until his retirement in 2010.

Dave was the author or co-author of several books and had articles published in Canada, the U.S and U.K. He also wrote “First Water Tigers”, the history of the Victoria Fire Department. He was an Honorary Member of the VFD and a member of the VFD’S Historical Society. Dave is survived by his wife Linda, daughter Alison, sister and brother-in-law Donna and Bob Griffin, niece Kayla and nephew Kevin.

Cremation and Private Interment has taken place. Family and friends are invited to a Celebration of Dave’s Life to be held in the Chapel of Sands Funeral Home, 1803 Quadra Street, Victoria on Saturday, October 13, 2018 at 1:00 p.m. A Reception to follow.
