The Vancouver Historical Society has been recording their presentations and posting to their YouTube channel.
VHS has just posted a presentation called “Vancouver Vice” by Aaron Chapman. Aaron is a historian extraordinaire of Vancouver’s underbelly, describes the West End in the 1980s, its worst decade of street prostitution.
In this illustrated talk, using images from his recent book Vancouver Vice, he puts the city’s long history of sex work into a broad context, reflecting on its evolution from the days of The Penthouse Cabaret described in his book Liquor, Lust and the Law.
