We note with sadness the passing of Alice Bruce, former member of the Gray Creek Historical Society and sister to Tom Lymbery. Alice passed away on January 3, 2018, at age 92.
Alice was a teacher, Gray Creek farmer, author (Kootenay Sketchbook, 1920; Pigweed Press: 1983), tireless environmental campaigner, and benefactor of the Tipi Camp Nature Retreat on Kootenay Lake. In her later years, she lived in Balfour, Riondel and Castlegar. Several photos of and references to Alice and the Bruce family appear in Tom Lymbery’s books, Tom’s Gray Creek Part I and Part II.
Friends and family are invited to a service and tea at Gray Creek Hall on February 10, 2018, 1:30 p.m. EST (12:30 PST) to honour Alice’s memory and share stories.
