Serge Plotnikoff, who gained fame as a writer and singer of BC ballads, many about the Kootenay-Boundary, has died at 85. His recordings that name-checked towns included Fly Me Back to Nelson City, Grand Forks Country, Kaslo Bay, Salmo Town, Creston Valley, and Ashcroft on My Mind.
