British Columbia History magazine launches digital version

We are pleased to announce the launch of the online edition of our flagship publication British Columbia History magazine. To celebrate the launch we are offering the Winter issue of British Columbia History FREE to BCHF members.

Subscribers who prefer paper can rest assured that there are no plans to discontinue the print version of the magazine.

The digital edition of British Columbia History magazine is a digital app that can be read on any Apple mobile device such as a smartphone or ipad. Look for more updates in 2019 for the availability of British Columbia History for Android devices through Google Play.

In addition, the quarterly publication is now part of the “world’s largest newsstand” through the Zinio (RB Digital Magazines) newsstand and can be read on a computer or downloaded via the RBDigital app. The ZINIO newsstand serves more than 2,500 public, corporate, military, and academic library systems and 1.3 million library patrons. Ask your local library to add it to their subscription package.

BCHF members will each receive an individual email with a link to download the app and a user name and password. If members choose to switch from print to digital they can do so by contacting our subscriptions team at subscriptions@bchistory.ca.

Our foray into the digital realm is an exciting step forward though we expect that there may be some bumps along the way. Please contact us with any questions and we will work with our membership team and our digital team to address any concerns.

About British Columbia History Magazine

British Columbia History is the oldest and most respected historical publication in the province. The magazine traces its roots back to October 1923, when the British Columbia Historical Association — formed in 1922 as the earliest ancestor of today’s Federation — published its First Annual Report and Proceedings. Over time, the publication evolved into British Columbia History magazine. Taken collectively, these publications constitute an outstanding record of the historical development of the province of British Columbia.
The British Columbia Historical Federation (BCHF) encourages interest in the history of British Columbia through research, presentation, and support in its role as an umbrella organization for provincial historical societies. The BCHF currently provides a collective voice for over 100 member societies and 24,000 individuals in the provincial not-for-profit historical sector. We are proud of our history dating back to 1922.
