Two longtime BCHF members were honoured by the City of Nelson last week for their lifetime work in preserving, promoting and documenting Nelson’s history.
Congratulations Ron and Frances!
Ron Welwood has been collecting, researching and writing about Kootenaiana since becoming interested in Nelson’s history in 1969. Ron has written numerous articles in British Columbia History and has served on BCHF Council, including as President from 1997—1999.
Frances Welwood was on the board of directors of the Nelson and District Museum, Archives, Art Gallery and Historical Society and has also written for British Columbia History magazine. Her book, Passing Through Missing Page, examines the life of Annie Garland Foster, who was the first woman elected to Nelson city council in 1920.
