A GoFundMe campaign is underway for the HMCS Alberni Museum and Memorial in Courtenay following a flash flood last week that inundated the building.
While no artifacts were damaged, the floor was ruined and must be replaced, which is not covered by insurance. The museum hopes to raise at least $10,000.
The museum is dedicated to preserving stories of the men who served aboard the HMCS Alberni during World War II. The ship was sunk by a German submarine in 1944 while on an escort mission in the English channel. Fifty-nine of the 85 crew members died.
