This presentation recorded June 28 at the Chinatown Storytelling Centre in Vancouver includes the little-known stories of Chinese Canadian pilots.
Evelyn Wong talks about her father’s determined effort to build a plane when he was teenager and his establishment of one of Canada’s foremost aviation schools. Ramona Mar gives an overview of the pioneer aviators who first took to the skies beginning at Saskatoon’s Keng Wah School of Aviation in 1919, revealing the free-spirited pilot who might well be the first Canadian woman to fly in Canada. Newly graduated pilot Annika Sun relates her personal journey en route to her commercial pilot’s license and her hopes for a career in the cockpit.
