About the bchf

The British Columbia Historical Federation (BCHF) is a Canadian non–profit organization registered as a charitable society under the Income Tax Act.

Providing a collective voice for over 100 member societies and 24,000 individuals in the provincial not-for-profit historical sector, the BCHF was established in 1922.

Constitution

The purpose of the Society is to support, promote, and communicate diverse practices of public history in British Columbia through commemoration, recognition, and publication.

The Land we Reside On

With gratitude, the BCHF acknowledges that it carries out its work on the traditional territories of Indigenous nations throughout British Columbia. Our Board of Directors and Officers reside in a range of territories across the province which are shared below.

Home to 36 distinct Indigenous languages—more than half of the total spoken in Canada—we are so fortunate to live in a province that is incredibly rich in linguistic and cultural diversity.

We invite you to celebrate and learn more these lands through the First Peoples’ Map of B.C.
